Operational Notice

This website is managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) of England and Wales on behalf of the International Network for the Independent Oversight of Policing (INIOP) hereafter known as ‘the Network’.

About this Policy

The aim of this policy is to inform you ‘the user’ about how we will use any personal data which you provide through the site. 

This policy should be read in conjunction with the Terms and Conditions for the site.

Use of your information

We use the information we gather on the web site whether personal, demographic, collective or technical, for the purposes of administering and managing your registration, responding to any queries you may have, operating and improving the web site, fostering a positive user experience and delivering the products and services that we offer to registered users.

If you have so agreed when registering with ‘the network’ or subsequently or if permitted by applicable law, we may use your contact information in order to send you e-mail or other communications regarding updates to the web site, or news generally, which may be of interest to you.

We have an area where you can contact us and submit feedback on the members area of the website.  We may use such feedback for promotional purposes or to contact you for further information.

Use of INIOP forums

Please remember that if you post any of your personal information in any of the public areas on the site, such as in online forums, in the jobshop, or in the oversight agency directory listings, such information may be collected and used by others over whom ‘the network’ has no control.  We are not responsible for the use made by third parties of information you post or otherwise make available in any of the public areas of this site.

Updating or Deleting your information

You may review, correct, update or change your ‘My Account’ profile or entry in the oversight agencies directory at any time when logged in to the site, or by emailing the site administrator at secretariat@iniop.org

 
Unsubscribing to electronic alerts

If while at any point during your use of the site you subscribed to receive electronic versions of INIOP communiqué or other publications or alerts, but subsequently change your mind, you may opt-out of these services at any time by emailing secretariat@iniop.org

Monitoring your usage of the site

‘The network’ may indirectly collect information about you when you use certain third party services on our web site.  This information will not be made available to third parties.

We also gather or may gather certain personal information about your use of our site, such as what areas you visit and what services you access.  Moreover, there is information about your computer hardware and software that is or may be collected by ‘the network’.  This information may include your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring web site addresses, but is not linked to your personal information.

Disclosure of information to others

‘The network’ will not disclose any of your personal information to third parties however we reserve the right to share aggregated anonymous information about visitors to the site with our clients, partners and other third parties so that they may understand who visits the site and how it is used.

Viewing the data we hold about you

You may access all your personal data stored and processed by ‘the network’ at any time, and may correct, update or delete such information by contacting us at secretariat@iniop.org, or by editing your ‘My Account’ profile when logged on to the site.

Storage of your data

Your data is submitted to ‘the network’ but is hosted and stored in a database on servers situated in the England and Wales which are owned and maintained by EverythingWeb.

Terminating your INIOP registration

If you wish to terminate your INIOP registration you can do so at any time by emailing secretariat@iniop.org

An email will be sent to you to confirm that your information has been deleted (save for an archival copy which is not accessible by you or third parties on the Internet). The archival copy is retained indefinitely for audit and record purposes.

Providing consent to our privacy policy

As part of the registration process you are required to provide your consent to our Privacy Policy.  You can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing secretariat@iniop.org.  When we are notified of your withdrawal of consent, access to your account will be blocked (this may take anywhere up to 10 working days to be actioned by the system, and you will receive an email notifying you of this change).  If consent is withdrawn, your account will be kept in the system for no longer than 1 year, and then deleted, although information you add to the oversight agencies directory will be kept in public view on the site, unless you specifically request that it is removed.

Changes to the privacy policy

If we decide to change the substance of our Privacy Policy, we will post those changes through a prominent notice on the web site and will also sent you details of the change by email, so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and to whom we will disclose it.  If at any time, you have questions or concerns please email us at secretariat@iniop.org.
